Slöfock knitting pattern

Description

This slouchy stocking cap with matching fingerless mitts in multiple sizes knits up quickly in DK/light worsted yarn for a stylishly warm answer to mid-winter cold. The mitts have a fitted thumb gusset while the hat brim is reversible and can be doubled back if desired. For maximum slouch, choose a very softly spun yarn. For snug fit, go down one size.

Better Breakfast DK, Chebris Sport, Kent DK, Stone Soup DK, Shetlandia Sport, Ginny DK, or any soft DK/light worsted yarn that knits to pattern gauge. Substituting yarn and/or needles may result in an overall variation in size.

Finished Size:
cap:  14(15.5, 17)[18.5, 20, 21.5, 23] inches in circumference to fit heads measuring up to 16.5(18, 19.5)[21, 22.5, 24, 25.5] inches around
mitts: 4(4.5, 5)[5.5, 6, 7, 8] inches in circumference to fit hands up to 5(5.5, 6)[6.5, 7.5, 8.5, 9.5] inches around palm

Yarn Requirements:
cap: 100(110, 125)[150, 175, 200, 225] yards
mitts: 60(75, 90)[105, 110, 130, 150] yards

Gauge:
cap: 20 sts and 28 rows = 4 inches in stockinette (knit flat; unblocked)
mitts: 22 sts and 30 rows = 4 inches in stockinette (knit flat; unblocked)

Needles:
cap: size 6US (4.0mm) 16-inch circular needles and DPNs for body (or size to obtain gauge)
size 5US (3.75mm) 16-inch circular needle for brim (one size smaller than body needle)
mitts: DPNs size 4US (3.5mm) or size to obtain correct gauge
