This colorwork hat in three sizes (small/medium/large) uses everyone’s favorite—mosaic stitch patterns—to create a composition of lively motifs from brim to peak. Work in a two-tone palette for crisply-defined contrast or mix a solid with a gradient for more subtle, ever-changing effects. Deceptively easy to work using just one strand per round, this project is a great option for colorwork beginners and amusing fun for experienced knitters

Suggested Yarns:
Kent DK , Feederbrook Farm Entropy DK, Blues Singer DK, Modern Deco Sport, Polwarth Sport, Finn Dandy 3-ply Sport or 2-ply Sport, The G.O.A.T. Fingering, New Zealand Sport, Milkshake Sport, Cabécou Sport, or any sport/light DK yarns that knit to pattern gauge 

Substituting yarn and/or needles may result in an overall variation in size, elasticity, or yardage requirement.

Finished Size:
17(19.5, 22) inches in brim circumference to fit heads measuring up to 19(22, 25) inches around

Yarn requirements:
Color A (solid): 100(115, 130) yards 
Color B (gradient): 120(135, 150) yards

Gauge:
23 sts and 36 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch on larger needles (washed and air-dried)
26 sts and 46 rows = 4 inches in body pattern stitch on larger needles (washed and air-dried)

Needles:
size 6US (4.0 mm) or size to obtain correct gauge
size 4US (3.5 mm) 16-inch circular needle for starting hem (or .5 mm smaller than gauge needle)
Note: samples were worked on two circular needles, but any circular method may be used
