School Sock knitting pattern

Description

This top-down sock in four sizes features a knit/purl motif which extends down the leg and over the top of the foot, creating a fabric which resembles a “school plaid”. Sock is easily converted to toe-up construction, as the pattern is vertically reversible and may be resized by using different yarn weights or needles.

Suggested Yarns: 

Better Breakfast Fingering, Stone Soup Fingering, Modern Deco Sport, or any sock yarn which has approximately 425 yards to 4 ounces. Substituting yarn and/or needles may result in an overall variation in size, drape, and yardage requirement.

Finished Size:
finished sock circumference = 6.25(7.5, 8.75, 10) inches
S(M, L, XL), to fit feet measuring up to 7.5(8.5, 10, 11) inches around

350(400, 450, 500) yds

Gauge:

32 sts and 48 rows = 4” in stockinette

Needles:

DPNs sizes US1 (2.25mm), or size to obtain gauge on smaller needles.
