Natty Cap knitting pattern

A soft stocking cap in four sizes (XS/S/M/L) in a houndstooth textured fabric with buttoned brim. Feminine in a pastel colorway, this cap easily transitions to a menswear favorite when knit in a neutral or undyed shade. Choosing a luster wool yarn or a blend with some silk will enhance the hat’s subtle texture. Suggested Yarns: 
Bare Naked Wools Stone Soup DK, Better Breakfast DK, Targhee Tango Sport, Confection Sport, Modern Deco Sport, Finn Dandy 3-ply Sport, Shetlandia Sport, or any soft DK/light worsted yarn that knits to pattern gauge. Substituting yarn and/or needles will result in an overall variation in size and drape.

Finished Size: 

15.5(17, 19.5, 21) inches in circumference to fit heads measuring up to 19.5(21, 22.5, 24) inches around

175(200, 250, 275)

Buttons: 

1 flat button that is 1 inch in diameter

Gauge: 

22 sts and 30 rows = 4 inches in stockinette on larger needles

Needles: 

size 5US (3.75 mm) 16-inch circular needle and DPNs or size to obtain correct gaugesize 3US (3.25 mm) 24-inch circular needle for brim or .5 mm smaller than gauge needle
