Description
The Swain Hat is a classic beanie designed to showcase intricate medallion cables and a deep ribbed brim. Choose a size approximately 1-3” smaller than your actual head circumference. This unisex hat is worked in one piece in the round from the brim upward.
Please note:
» the brim can be knit shorter or taller as desired; and
» you’ll need additional yardage (25-45 yards) for the optional pom-pom.
Materials
170 (220) yds / 155 [205] m of sportweight yarn
US 3 (3.25 mm): 16″ / 40 cm circular for optional tubular CO
US 4 (3.5 mm): 16″ / 40 cm circular for ribbing
US 5 (3.75 mm): 16″ / 40 cm circular, or size needed to obtain gauges
Gauges
22 sts / 35 rnds = 4” [10 cm] in reverse stockinette st on largest needles, after blocking
18 sts / 24 rnds = 1¾” [4.5 cm] wide and 2¾” [7 cm] high in Cable Panel on largest needles, after blocking
