Pollyanna Triangle shawl knitting pattern

Description

This springy triangle shawl in three sizes (petite/medium/tall) is filled with texture, yet uncomplicated to knit. A mix of knit/purl textures and simple openwork form a knockout hem pattern that segues to classic striping above. Knit here in a squishy, sportweight yarn for best depth and texture, it will translate nicely in softer fibers or thinner yarns with needle adjustments.

Substituting yarn and/or needles may result in an overall variation in size, drape, and yardage requirement.

Finished Size: 52(70, 80) inches across top edge and 22(30, 34) inches long at center back (washed and blocked)

Yarn Requirement: 550(800, 1000) yards 

Gauge: 20 sts and 30 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch on larger (gauge) needle (knit flat, washed, and air-dried)

Needles:
size 7 (4.5 mm) circular needle for hem (or size to obtain correct gauge)
size 6 (4.0 mm) circular needle for body (or .5 mm smaller than gauge needle)
DPNs size 6 (4.0 mm) for finishing (or .5 mm smaller than gauge needle)
