Description
Join the thousands of “craftivist” knitters across the country protesting with this Melt the ICE Hat, originated in the Minnesota yarn shop Needle & Skein.
In the 1940’s, Norwegians made and wore red pointed hats with a tassel as a form of visual protest against Nazi occupation of their country. Within two years, the Nazis made these protest hats illegal and punishable by law to wear, make, or distribute. As purveyors of traditional craft, we felt it appropriate to revisit this design. You may request the pattern at checkout in the comments box and we will pay the designer directly for the pattern we gift you. We HIGHLY recommend purchasing it directly on Ravelry so you are apprised of all updates and modifications.
Sample shown in Blue Sky Fibers Skyland for the DK version. However, the pattern will work with about 200 yards of RED yarn of any Fingering, DK or Worsted. Note: don’t want red? The Ice Hat will knit up great in *any* favorite color!
