Description
Lleyn Sheep, named after the Llŷn Peninsula in Gwynedd, north-west Wales, Lleyn sheep are known for superior white wool. They are adaptable to various environments, from upland to lowland grazing, making them a popular choice for sustainable farming.
The wool is prized for its softness, crispness, and durability. It has terrific “squish factor,” and produces light, airy, and long-lasting yarn with a crisp texture, ideal for a range of knitting and weaving projects. This texture is often seen as a feature, producing great stitch definition and enhancing the authenticity of the finished product
Lleyn yarn is celebrated for its longevity, with claims that items made from it can last “lifetimes” due to the robust nature of the wool fibers.
While our yarn is spun in the USA, the fiber is a product of British breeding, local sheep breeds, and traditional wool processing. This aligns with efforts to preserve the heritage of British wool and sustainable agriculture.
