Description
The Vivien Top is a gentle introduction to V-neck construction, designed for beginners. It’s worked in simple stockinette stitch, framed by broken rib edges.
It proves that even the most basic stitches can create something stylish and feminine — yes, even without lace, and yes, even if you’re new to garment knitting.
Vivien top is knit from the top down, beginning with the shoulder straps. Each back strap is worked flat and shaped with increases along the neckline and armhole. The armhole features a built-in broken rib edge.
After joining both back pieces, the same steps are repeated for the front.
Once the front and back are complete, they are joined at the underarm, and the body is worked in the round. The top is finished with 1×1 ribbing and seamed at the shoulders.
